What is Own The Room?
Own The Room is a learning company like no other. Who will see my videos and other activities?
By default, only you can see your content. You can choose to share this (e.g., post your video to social media). You can also opt-in to share your videos and data to for research use and to help improve LifeHikes.
What are steps?
LifeHikes tracks activity that leads to effective learning. Like a fitness tracker, but for your skills – tracking the “steps” on your learning journey. The more “active” and engaging an activity, the more steps you earn. You earn steps in LifeHikes for completing lessons, practice, and any learning programs you check in to.
What are Tokens / How can I get more Practice sessions?
We want you to improve your skills so much that we’re giving the Practice + Feedback tool free of charge. But to keep it real: each recording session costs us a few cents per minute to process and generate your report, so we need to prevent abuse and set a reasonable limit to the duration and number of uploads. Each token gives you a practice session, and you can get more by referring your friends or coming back to the app every day and claiming another free Token. Our learning programs also come with free tokens and cover any recordings you need to do while you’re participating in the program.
I’m enrolled in a learning program but don’t see it in LifeHikes.
For private training: If you haven’t received an activation code or invitation email from LifeHikes, check with your manager or Human Resources contact responsible for the training at your organization.
For public event participants: you should see your course appear in the Learning Programs tab within 4 weeks of your event. If you still don’t see the program details, please contact us.
Can I use LifeHikes without attending an Own The Room training in person?
Yes! Any of the Learn + Grow tracks you can see in the app will help you improve your skills, and you can use Practice + Feedback as often as you’d like, as long as you have enough tokens. If you join one of our live learning programs, you will unlock even more ways to use the LifeHikes app. Learn more about our offerings here.
Is LifeHikes available in different languages?
LifeHikes is only available in English for now. We plan to support additional languages in the future.

Why is it taking so long to process my report?
A high-speed Internet connection is strongly recommended for any video or audio processing. Your report should be ready within a couple of minutes, so if it’s taking much longer, check your connection, and try restarting the app or your device. If the problem persists, please contact us for support.
Can I use LifeHikes offline?
An Internet connection is required for most areas of this app, including all Learn + Grow tracks and Practice sessions. A high-speed connection is strongly recommended for faster video loading.
How can I find my previous video/audio recordings?
LifeHikes saves any your video and audio recordings done during Practice + Feedback (and their corresponding reports) into your Profile tab. You can come back any time to review your report and play back the recording (an Internet connection is required to load the content). You can also give your recordings a name to make them easier to find. Some recordings don’t get saved, such as the quick exercises done during Learn + Grow sessions.
How do I use VR Mode?
Add a new dimension to your Practice + Feedback sessions with Virtual Reality (VR). Immerse yourself in a 3D scene and present to a realistic audience. LifeHikes will analyze your audio presentation and give you the same type of report as you would get in non-VR mode. The same token and time limits apply.
You will need the LifeHikes app on your smartphone and a VR headset that you can insert your phone into (not a self-contained device such as Oculus or Playstation VR). Refer to the user manual of your particular headset for more details.
Note: Video and pre-recorded files are not possible with VR mode, so we’re only analyzing your audio.
Can I delete my content?
Yes. Any video or audio recording can be deleted in your Profile section. To delete your account and all data, please contact us.
